Love this! We read a lot together and I've never thought of "counting" my kids' books.

I love this point about kid’s books - and kudos to your illustrator. The last post I saw in this vein was a mum making a bit deal if including ONE kid’s book to represent all the books she read with her family.

I use Storygraph and count pages instead of books so it wouldn’t make much difference I think to the stats. (I always trend toward longer books and I remember being so annoyed how long it took to earn star stickers for my Pizza Hut Book It badge as a kid compared to other kids reading shorter books). Did you have Book It in the UK?

Anyway, I set a “goal” that is my normal and just use it to track my reads. That said I think I haven’t considered them just because we read such a VAST quantity. But you may have convinced me to start. Or at least track our favorites. It might help in 10 years when we’re trying to remember a certain kid’s book.

And I’d love to see kid’s book recs from other parents!

I also read every word - it’s like I’m reading aloud in my head. It’s crazy to me some people skim!
